Measuring Grit in Entrepreneurs?

The Boston Globe had an interesting article about grit – the ability to stay focused and work hard toward a long-term goal. Apparently some researchers have figured out how to measure it and use it to predict how successful people will be in various endeavors. If this is true, I’d like to see if grit could be measured in start-ups to see which entrepreneurs are more likely to succeed.

My gut feeling on this though is that *most* entrepreneurs are already pretty gritty people to begin with and hence the variables impacting their success may have less to do with grit than with other external factors.
