I’m currently working on a research project with over 70,000 records and 20 variables. The problem is that the data is incomplete and and there are numerous duplicates. Thus, I have to go over each and every line. This is mind-numbingly painful and I can only do it so many hours at a time. An RA would be useful right now….

This experience also explains why so many academics prefer to do theory work. Theory doesn’t require getting one’s hands dirty, but empirical work certainly does….
