Where Sweatshops Are a Dream – NYTimes.com

Op-ed writer Nicholas Kristof makes the case for sweatshops. While, in theory, I certainly agree that sweatshops are probably much better than living on a smoldering trash heap, I ask the following questions:

1) Are the other locations where sweatshops setup really as bad as the example the Mr. Kristof used?

2) Should the consumers of those sweatshop goods allow the importation of those products if in their own countries that practice is outlawed? In other words, if a country bans sweatshops, should the citizens support a dangerous practice they wouldn’t allow for their own citizens?
