Lyx, www.lyx.org,  allows you to create beautiful documents using latex, but it can be a pain to setup and a pain to upgrade. I had version 1.54 on my computer for a while and it worked well. I decided to upgrade to the latest version, 1.61 and now I cannot open any of my older files…. Annoying. Apparently, I had waited to long between upgrades since its own converter does not even work with my files. And I didn’t do myself any favors my upgrading over my older version as opposed to creating a parallel directory to have both versions on my computer at the same time.

In terms of features, I haven’t noticed anything compelling yet. The best feature has to be the autocomplete feature. I believe, this version also allows the PDFs created to have bookmarks which would be great, but I haven’t tested that feature.
