How to Find the Source of Hardware Interrupts and Deferred Procedure Calls

My tablet started slowing down. I was confused. Normally you can look at your task manager and see if there is a rogue process, but not this time.

So I broke out the Process Explorer, formerly owned by Sysinternals, but now managed by MS.

It showed that DPC’s or Deferred Procedure Calls were eating up as much as 70% of my CPU power.

What the hell were DPC’s?

Well, they have something to do with drivers not playing nicely with your computer. And while I sought to track down which driver was causing my angst I had no such luck…until I came across this excellent article. Hopefully it will help others out too!
