Good Procrastination Versus Bad Procrastination

I recently read an article on procrastination that really put things in perspective for me. The article said that there are three kind of procrastinators: A, B, and C. The A type procrastinators talk but don’t actually do anything but sit around. Type B procrastinators are “Getting Things Done,” just not about anything that they need to be doing (like me right now!). The type B procrastinators are usually trying to avoid from doing any sort of real work so they do things like run errands and clean the house. The author did distinguish between good errands and bad errands. The good errands are the ones that actually have to get done, like paying taxes or renewing the registration on your car. Bad errands are things like shaving and sweeping. They will have absolutely no impact on accomplishing any real work and will never ever be mentioned in your obituary. Lastly, the author talks about a famous scientist at AT&T labs who used to go around and ask people this simple questions: What is the most important thing you should be working on and why aren’t you? According to this scientist, this is the question you should always be asking yourself if you want to accomplish great things in life. Doing anything other than the answer to that question is just a form of procrastination.
